Tonight the Free Summer Concert Series continues with The Greyboy Allstars taking the stage at Howlsen Hill Amphitheater. This is the second free concert in a series of 5 this summer. The opening band will begin at 5 p.m. with The Greyboy Allstars starting shortly after. The Steamboat Springs Free Summer Concerts are extremely popular events in the summer with many locals and visitors taking advantage of the great music, fun outdoor ambiance and a great time to see old friends and make new ones. Rounding out the summer we still have the Freddy Jones Band, Susan Tedeschi and the Avett Brothers going on through the end of July and August. We all make goals about summer plans, work out regimens and events that we would like to take part in, right? This summer I have decided to train for and (if all goes well) participate in the Steamboat Springs Triathlon here in Steamboat Springs, Colorado on Sunday, August 30th. I have NEVER done anything like this before, which truly shows that anyone can do it if they put their mind to it. The Steamboat Springs Triathlon is a ¾ mile swim, a 20 mile bike ride and a 4 mile run all at beautiful Lake Catamount just outside of town. For more information about the race please visit www.steamboattriathlon.com.
The training aspect of preparing for an event like this has been a little overwhelming but I am happy to report that I am sticking to my workouts and I have a great support system that has been behind me every step of the way. The best part is that I get to spend time in the stunning scenery here in the Yampa Valley; trust me it is the best motivator when training. So, stay tuned for updates and progress. Any of our Steamboat Springs Daily Blog readers a tri-athlete? Comments, suggestions and encouraging words are welcome.

This last weekend turned out to be another great celebration of the 29th Annual Hot Air Balloon Rodeo. With over 30 balloons launching off into the sky in the early morning of both Saturday and Sunday the weather couldn’t have been any better. The skies were clear, temperatures perfect and the winds were low. The pilots had a wonderful time as well as all of the spectators that came out to see. Even CBS 4 News came and took some great footage of the event http://firstname.lastname@example.org Hope to see everyone again next year!
